Gum disease

Symptoms of gum disease such as bleeding and swelling of gums may result in loose teeth. It is most common in adults and is responsible for majority of tooth loss. The treatment for this disease is called Periodontics.
Gum disease is a serious infection caused by an accumulation of bacteria above and below the gum line. Signs of periodontal disease may include bleeding gums, mouth odours, gum recession, or loosening of teeth over time. Overtime such large reservoirs of bacteria will affect your general health.
Generally, treatment will include careful, individualized instruction regarding the most effective means of brushing and flossing at home. A thorough professional scaling or root planning of all affected tooth surfaces and the gums area will be done. Patients usually experience immediate improvement and can see that their gums no longer bleed when they brush their teeth.
